National Handwriting Day is its own day on January 23rd. It was initiated in the early 1980s by the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association to benefit their members. Handwriting analysis groups jumped on the bandwagon and have used it ever since to garner some publicity. The date was chosen because it is John Hancock's birthday. Hancock's signature from the Declaration of Independence is well known for its large, bold attitude. It is said that he did that so King George could read the document without having to put on his spectacles.

John Hancock (January 12, 1737  –  October 8, 1793) was President of the Second Continental Congress and of the Congress of the Confederation, first Governor of Massachusetts, and the first person to sign the United States Declaration of Independence. John Hancock's signature is the most prominent on the United States Declaration of Independence.

The purpose of National Handwriting Day is to alert the public to the importance of handwriting. It is a chance for all of us to re-explore the purity and power of handwriting. Writing by hand is different from typing because it requires using strokes to create a letter, rather than just selecting the whole letter by touching a key, says Virginia Berninger a professor of psychology at the University of Washington. These finger movements activate large regions of the brain involved in thinking, memory, and language.

The act of physically gripping a pen or pencil and practicing the swirls, curls and connections of cursive handwriting activates parts of the brain that lead increase language fluency. Writing is, by nature, an opportunity for creativity and personal expression. When writing is incorporated in learning and assessment, there is increased opportunity to produce the ideal situation for active, attentive learning because students value creative problem solving or creative production.

They're more likely to apply the effort, collaborate successfully, ask questions, revise work, and review foundational knowledge because they want to know what you have to teach. "Judy Willis", a board-certified neurologist in Santa Barbara, California.

In the past few years Handwriting or rather  Cursive Handwriting is being rooted out from the schools, as they feel its no longer necessary to teach cursive writing to children in schools. The American Handwriting Analysis Foundation (AHAF), a 48 year-old non-profit organization, is encouraging the return of cursive handwriting to the US public school system. On January 23rd, National Handwriting Day, they have launched a new website, Campaign For Cursive. “The website will promote awareness of the need to keep handwriting in the curriculum, and show kids that handwriting is cool,” stated Sheila Lowe, President of the AHAF.

The group is supporting Senator Jean Leising of Indiana, whose bill to return cursive writing to the curriculum is scheduled for a vote on Wed., Jan. 23. “Child psychologists, doctors and researchers have used neuro-imaging scans to show finger movement associated with handwriting activates regions in the brain linked to cognitive, language and even motor processes. In other words, cursive writing isn’t just a good ability to have. Instead, we are now hearing that handwriting skills are crucial for success in school, basic development and learning potential in general,” stated Senator Leising in an email.

Cursive writing and its Importance (Part 2)
Everyday in the newspaper we hear about children and adults committing suicide. the reasons are many, not able to cope with the daily activities in life, depression, upset because of low grades or not coming first. Problems that are present in some form or the other, but sadly people need to realize that problems will not cease to exist after they have gone. Problems are a part and parcel of life and its essential to develop a positive attitude towards them than otherwise, I came across some sites wherein the spirit of the person makes me feel proud of having read such amazing articles and of course I would like to share them with my readers as well.
First-Grader Born Without Hands Wins Penmanship Award!
Usually we morn about how bad our handwriting is or our children need to improve their writing or that we can only print and write in cursive and so on, but here this 7 year old was born without hands, but she just won an award for her fabulous handwriting in the Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest.
Luckily we even have her handwriting and it looks just like any normal child's writing. This is because Handwriting can also be termed as Mind Writing as its the mind or brain which controls the vital organs. Even movements you initiate are controlled by your brain. The brain is part of the nervous system which sends messages to your muscles and bones resulting in the movement you intended. Similarly we see many people who write with their mouth or their feet, this is because its your brain or more specifically your mind that is controlling almost all your actions. The brain has many different parts. The brain also has specific areas that do certain types of work. These areas are called lobes. One lobe works with your eyes when watching a movie. There is a lobe that is controlling your legs and arms when running and kicking a soccer ball. There are two lobes that are involved with reading and writing. Your memories of a favorite event are kept by the same lobe that helps you on a math test. The brain is controlling all of these things and a lot more. Anna's handwriting is just another example of how a person can overcome their adversities and just not only in one field but many.  Our handwriting is a mirrow to our inner world, what we feel and how we go about our day to day activity is all shown by the writing. Annie's writing is in the print script and hopefully she will win many more handwriting competitions and we will have a number of her writings to analyze from. Her handwriting shows clarity, good utilization of space and the communication letters are open and clear.  The size of the middle zone is the major factor considered in handwriting analysis. Most letters are found in the middle zone of writing. There are three different "zones" in graphology. Each one represents a very different aspect of life. Namely the Upper Zone, Middle Zone and the Lower Zone. The middle zone is where the lower case letters like a, c, e, i, m, n, u, and v reside. The middle zone represents daily life, reality, and social integration. It t represents the ego - from it we get a lot of information as to how the writer feels and acts in public settings - what makes them tick socially and at work. Another name that I would mention here, is of Shenzhen: The street's armless calligrapher, with no arms used his feet and wrote down some inspirational words in Chinese calligraphy for the Foxconn employees, to advice them not to take the extreme, step of committing suicide by jumping of the buildings. During 2010 there were at least 10 consecutive suicides of Foxconn employees. The armless man wrote, “To brothers and sisters of Foxconn, life is priceless, ought to fulfill filial duty, there is always a way out, harmony relies on oneself”. This man's action soon attracted a number of Foxconn employees who were passing by on their way home from work. Many expressed support and appreciation, some stepped forward asking for the inspirational pieces.Read more at

The struggle of this man is evident from the picture itself, but more evident is the spirit with which he is spreading the message to those with hands and legs intact not to take an escape route of suicide. He was a Chef in Beijing and we can only imagine the importance of his hands for not only his personal needs but also for culinary skills. A severe gas explosion made him severely disabled. After several surgical procedures, luckily he was able to live. With responsibilities on his head, he decided to write with his legs and help out with financial matters of his family. The agony that he and his family must have gone through needs no explanation. when he heard about many young people committing suicide he sat in front of the Foxconn office to inspire people and showing by actions to look at the brighter side of things.

We usually find ways that help us in motivating others getting them to do something that we want done and in a way that he himself wants to do it. This activity usually takes place and the right person is one who can get the people enthusiastic enough to do such tasks. There is a story which my friend told me and I would like to share it with you. There was a manager named Steve and he was to attend a seminar which his company had sent him for. Now in the four day period, there was a presentation on leadership and it was not mandatory. Steve was a fond player of Tennis and felt that instead of attending he could have a good game or two and spend the better part of the day relaxing. He went to the organizers and confessed that he didn’t feel like attending the seminar but would appreciate some tips that they could give him that would help him get his team to perform better. The organizer was a very clever and smart person. He told him without mixing words that he just wouldn’t be able to tell him how to manage his people.

Steve was astonished and he said so that this presentation was on how to get people motivated to get a job well done.  The organizer agreed that they gave seminars just on this topic, but let the audience know that there is no way a person can control the other and that the motivation comes directly from the staff itself than from the boss. He went on to elaborate that the key in any situation is to get the people motivate themselves and that is what the seminar was about.  Steve was a intelligent fellow. He forgot his tennis and stayed on for an interesting section and was among the few who occupied the first few seats. After all pointing the way is not sufficient, “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.”

How you convince the person to stay and that to because they want it themselves is an art, the better you get acquainted with it and the more you practice, the more success you will have. This useful trait can be seen in one’s handwriting, just look in for t-bars, this trait is known as enthusiasm and it is one of the basic features that is found in the writing of rich and famous men. Enthusiasm sells; it makes people notice you and is a drive that gets the work done. If you are a boss and want to start new projects or choose a team leader, enthusiasm is a main ingredient you should look out for. It saves time and money for a lot of recruiting agencies who are looking for the right person for a right job.

For each and every individual, the word Success has a certain meaning. For some it may mean monetary independence, for some achieving a goal, for some doing what they love.

Success follows brilliance, a complete understanding of which will lead a person not in the pursue of Success but of Excellence in what ever that is they do. Once you understand that, half your battle is won. For instance see Olympic champions or sport persons, when they play, they put all their efforts and hard work into it. Once done, they sit back and enjoy the result, enjoy the Success that those efforts bring them.

So how do you achieve this Excellence in your life? One most important principle is of doing what you are most passionate about. You love Art and join Medical collage instead is an example of going in the wrong direction. Once you figure out What You Want, the next step is to say it out loud and let everyone around you know that this is your dream and you will follow it by all means. Any resistance at that point and your firm determination to follow your dream will eventually benefit you itself. The only person living your life is you, and the only person who should care for it should also be You. So acknowledge your strengths, continue climbing mountains and following rainbows. The struggles which we will encounter now will eventually help us gain a greater perspective and that will give a whole new definition and meaning to our life.

For instance Bill Gates' story is not a 'rags to riches' fairytale. Instead, it is a great example of what one can do with the talents that he has within him. The growth of Microsoft is largely due to the fact that Gates ensured that most computers that shipped out came with Microsoft software pre-installed, thereby 'killing' any desire by consumers to purchase any other type of software. So what do you think? Is Gates the greatest business leader of our time or just a very conniving one? Whatever one thinks, one thing is for sure, the name Bill Gates will continue to resonate in the field of business. Did he not know that doing something like that might cause him problem? But that didn’t stop him from getting what he desired, then why should you let any fear be big enough to block your path??

“Think big, think fast, think ahead. Ideas are no one’s monopoly.”

Meeting the deadlines is not good enough, beating the deadlines is my expectation.”-

“Pursue your goals even in the face of difficulties, and convert adversities into opportunities.”

“You do not require an invitation to make profits.”-

-Dhirubhai Ambani:

He founded India's first Fortune Global 500 company. He was the visionary behind the industrial group which accounts for more than 3 per cent of India's GDP, about 5 per cent of the country's total exports and 30 per cent of the profits made by private sector companies. About 35 lakh people have a direct interest in Reliance Industries which, post-merger, will have more shareholders than any other company in the world. The facts, as it were, speak for themselves. They tell a story of a truly global giant, of an Indian private sector industrial house which climbed swiftly to the peak leaving behind most others to labor in the foothills.

So who really was this man? The son of a school teacher in rural Gujarat, who failed to pass his school exams in the first attempt and earned his first money as a child selling snacks to pilgrims over weekends or someone who had a vision and became the largest polyester dealer in the country. He too was faced with many problems of his own, but success follows when you aim high and put efforts to achieve your goals.

As Thomas Jefferson said Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. Keep steadily before you the fact that all true success depends at last upon yourself.

Handwriting analysis helps you achieve this success in life by not only telling you what you are and where you stand but also giving you new hopes to reach your goal and true your dreams. My new book,"Grapho-therapy with Mind power" will be available shortly. It is one sure way of being able to change the way you see yourself and ultimately change your world as well.

There was a millionaire who was bothered by severe eye pain. He consulted so many physicians  and  was  getting  his  treatment done. He did not stop consulting galaxy of medical experts; he consumed heavy loads of drugs and underwent hundreds of injections.

But the ache persisted with great vigor than before. At last a monk who has supposed to be an expert in!  Treating such patients was called for by the millionaire. The monk understood his problem and said that for sometime he should concentrate only on green colors and not  to fall his eyes on any other colors. The millionaire got together a group of  painters  and purchased barrels of green color and directed that every object his eye was likely   to   fall   to   be   painted   in   green   color   just   as  the  monk  had directed.

When   the   monk  came  to  visit  him  after  few  days,  the  millionaire' s  servants ran with buckets of green paints and poured on him since he was in red dress, lest their master not see any other color and his eye ache would come back.

Hearing  this  monk  laughed said "If only you had purchased a pair of green spectacles, worth  just  a  few  rupees, you could have saved these walls and trees and pots and all other  articles and also could have saved a large share of his fortune. You cannot paint the  world green." Let us change our vision and the world will appear accordingly. It is foolish to shape the world, let us shape ourselves first.   Let’s change our vision..!

What is it that we Fear the most? What is it that we can’t face?

Some people fear heights, darkness, dogs, people & some facing

 the  truth.

Well no one is perfect so each & every one of us experiences fear in our own way. Now comes the question of facing your fear & overcoming it. Many methods are applied for the same, psychiatrics, N.L.P., mind mentoring, and Handwriting analysis.

Yes Handwriting analysis too can help in tackling your fear. For e.g.: students who face the problem of public speaking, memory, confidence or lack of attention can improve with the help of Handwriting analysis. It helps them to choose their careers, in short make them independent individuals who live the life of their choice. Businessmen, home-makers too benefit from the vast uses of this science. It helps to look within a person & many a times suicidal tendencies too can be tracked down & taken care of.

For those who believe in moving on even in the face of obstacles, for them nothing is impossible.

This Sunday I was going through 'Times Of India' and came upon Deepak Chopra's column in which a woman talks about her problem and what she is to do about it. Looking at her problem, I just felt like asking her for her handwriting as then lots of other things to would come out, like her self-esteem, or whether she had depression, her goals, fears or simply a person who was not able to accept the truth. Yes handwriting acts like your personal guide, it tells you plainly what's going on in within you and whether it benefits you or not. I felt for that woman and wishes I would be able to help her as some pains go deeper and affect your life completely. For instance a wife knowing that the husband cheats on her, the woman is an emotional turmoil, frustrated and doesn't know what to do. Sometimes they simply close their eyes to the problem and ignore its existence, some fight it out and some are beaten and silenced. So how does handwriting help these women? it helps them by incorporating certain traits that would give them the capacity to be calm and collected in such a situation, another is to have the capacity to take a decision and the ability to follow it through. Handwriting can also tell if a person will have a big sex drive or how he would look at others and behave with them. Honesty can be seen in the handwriting and so can dishonesty be found and removed to make you into a better human being.

Some people know their faults and want to change them to, but are unable to do so as they don't know how, garpho-therapy helps such people to get their hearts desire. Because as Deepak Chopra said,"If you has a rock in your shoe, which is the best solution,to wonder if you deserve that rock or to pull it out?'

Handwriting analysis is a science through which you can come to know about person’s emotions, intellect, likes, dislikes, strengths weakness and much much more .

This is because Handwriting is not Hand-writing, but it is Brain which is writing!!!

Surprising isn’t it?? But very much true as well, when we were in our primary classes, we used to think of the alphabets to be written, but as our subconscious mind took over we didn’t pay any more attention to the formation of these letters. Due to which whatever you write comes from your subconscious mind and hence depicts your true personality. You can come to know a person’s thoughts and feelings which are hidden from the eyes of the world in just matter of minutes.

In this day and age of intense competition and everyday advancing technology, we are always in the lookout for an opportunity to take us further to our dreams and goals. We want our children to do well and put them in tuition classes give them the best available education that money could buy, most of the time we ask them to improve their handwriting. “Write in good handwriting” is what we say, but what exactly is this good or bad handwriting??  What is it that you want the child to change? Isn’t it a question you must ask yourself? Many a times parents come to me with the complain that their children do not have good handwriting and unknowingly make changes that are simply not beneficial to the child.

For eg. If a child is writing very small it means that he or she has very good concentration power and are unaffected by any outside disturbances. Here if you ask the child to write big, you take away  his concentration ability and wonder why suddenly his grades have fallen. This does not even mean that you ask your children to start writing small as small writing intensifies any other traits you have by 10% for eg. If a child has temper traits and you ask him to write small then his anger will be multiplied 10 times and so will every other trait positive or negative.

The science of handwriting can help you choose your career. People are happiest doing the job that they like the best and better to determine that when you are 18 than 30+.

It also helps in understanding your relationship with family, friends, business associates or your social circle  better and opens new doors to communication. Many a times people tell me that I am able to understand them much better than their family members. Truly to touch the soul of another human being is to walk on holy ground.

I can do so with the help of handwriting analysis and most importantly change my weakness into strength by just changing my way of writing. This is known as GRAPHO THERAPY. It means to change your handwriting in a scientific manner so as to change your personality.

When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.

In this day and age Stress is the number one killer and below are a few pointers as to what is stress and how it affects us. In this article I shall share with you how to beat stress ,Exam or otherwise with the help of Handwriting Analysis.

Stress whether in school or collage or for freshers giving job interviews comes in all forms and is an unavoidable consequence of life. A mild degree of stress is just like spicing up one particular meal you have prepared and you might even end up enjoying it. It will help you feel stimulated and motivated, and may help to overcome stress, but high degree of stress may be disrupting.

What Exactly is stress and how does it affect us?

The word stress is derived from the Latin word "stringi", which means, "to be drawn tight"

Stress is the body's reaction to a change that requires a physical, mental or emotional adjustment or response.Stress can come from any situation or thought that makes you feel frustrated, angry, nervous, or anxious.Stress is caused by an existing stress-causing factor or "stressor."Dealing with a serious illness or caring for someone who is can cause a great deal of stress.

Stress affects us physically and mentally

Stress can affect both your body and your mind. People under large amounts of stress can become tired, sick, and unable to concentrate or think clearly. Sometimes, they even suffer mental breakdowns. Stress disturbs the body's normal way of functioning. Hans Selye said in 1956, "stress is not necessarily something bad, it all depends on how you take it. The stress of exhilarating, creative successful work is beneficial, while that of failure, humiliation or infection is detrimental."

Stress can contribute to heart disease, high blood pressure, and strokes, and make you more likely to catch less serious illnesses like colds. It can also contribute to alcoholism, obesity, drug addiction, cigarette use, depression, and other harmful behaviors.Mental tensions, frustrations, insecurity, aimlessness are among the most damaging stressors, and psychosomatic studies have shown how often they cause migraine headache, peptic ulcers, heart attacks, hypertension, mental disease, suicide, or just hopeless unhappiness.

Below mentioned are a few symptoms of stress

  • Dry mouth and throat,
  • Sweaty palms
  • Yawning, feeling bloated
  • Rapid heartbeat, increased blood pressure
  • Headache or jaw pain when you wake up (clenching your jaw in your sleep!)
  • Restlessness, fidgeting
  • Stomach ache (butterflies)
  • Anxiety, panic
  • Inability to sleep
  • Inability to concentrate
  • in Children hitting, kicking, insomnia, nail biting, bed wetting, appetite loss, crying, thumb sucking, laziness are a few indicators.
Stress could be due to impending exam, pressure from parents and teachers for obtaining good marks, competition amongst students,  while giving an interview or on job stress, stress related to day to day house hold matters ,teachers getting stresses reading the students work and  so on.Surprised that teachers could be stresses? check out the links

Ways to Beat out that Stress

“Its not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it.” Hans Setye

1)One way I have already shown you by giving the above links!

2) The second is through Handwriting Therapy: Handwriting analysis is a well known and recognized science and a very effective way to reach your sub-conscious by the way of your own handwriting.

This exercise is known as waves as it looks like waves. However there is lot of significance in this exercise. This pattern will help you in releasing tension and unwanted emotional baggage. It will increase flexibility and creativity in many areas.

This exercise helps to improve balance and co-ordination and is a great stress buster. It also helps the person to keep an open ear and aids in concentration.

This exercise should be done in the morning for at least 10 minutes. It improves memory and increases sharpness in a person.

This exercise is known as figure 8 because it looks like the numeral 8. This exercise will help you in easily conveying your thoughts and ideas on the paper or orally.

I hope the few exercises mentioned above will be of use to you and the only way you can feel its power is by trying it yourselves.

Cursive writing and its importance(part 2) A few days back, I had written an article on Cursive writing and its importance, also mentioning that the state of Indiana had stopped teaching cursive, however a team of Graphologists have been working on this issue and a few days back we got to know that the state has given permission to use cursive and not ban its use. However most states don't require children to learn cursive writing anymore. Some 46 states have adopted the Common Core Standards, a set of educational guidelines that do not require cursive writing as part of a school's curriculum. My fellow Graphologists have created a Campaign for Cursive blog and you can find the entire information from there.
Campaign for Cursive
Just imagine if schools stop teaching cursive in school then we would have adults who would write like children, like these samples below which are of the famous teen stars Miley Cyrus ,Justin Bieber and Selena Gomaz’z letters to their younger selves.

Our handwriting is like a pictorial representation of what is going on in our mind, how we think, react and create. Miley and Justin’s handwriting is just like that of primary grade children and most of it is in the print form Selena at least is writing cursive but with time even this might stop. Many of the people I have analyzed have said this one thing frequently, I don’t write anymore or I use the computers all the time, where is writing involved and hence why to learn it, similarly the schools feel why teach cursive when ultimately you will have to use the keyboard? Well the answer to that has already being given in my previous blog as to how the brain show more activity while using the pen than the keyboard.

Cursive writing (Part 1)

Writing in cursive has the advantage that you will use all the three zones in the handwriting which are the upper zone, middle zone and lower zones which indicate the thinking and intelligence, present day to day life and physical activity respectively. When you print you tend to ignore the zones most of the times and the writing is stifled to the middle zone where you think of only the moment and nothing else, which leads to many other problems for you.

In an article compiled by Katie hatter (CNN) has given the following information from various specialists of the filed.

"Without it [cursive handwriting] you lose the sense of having your thought process through your hand movements to create your language and thoughts to someone else," says Michael Sull, a master penman in Spencerian script; past president of the International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting; and author of four books on handwriting including, "American Cursive Handwriting," which was released last month.

"There is a great loss in the progress that could be made with children fostering their motor skill development, literacy training and concepts of communication."

Sloppiness makes the reader think the writer's ideas aren't any good, studies show. "If you have sloppy handwriting, people make [negative] judgments about the quality of your ideas," says Steven Graham, professor of education at Vanderbilt University.

And poor handwriting slows down the writer. If you write slowly, your hand may not be able to keep up with your mind's attempt to have a thought, form it into a sentence and remember it long enough to write it down. "Until you can do this skill quickly and without thinking, it will interfere with your output," says Graham. "You better learn to write."

In this day and age where computer is a necessity, learn all that it takes to become technology savvy, but why lose the most beautiful and easy way of reaching your mind, which is through your own handwriting. Your handwriting talks to you everyday, listen to what it says and your life will never be the same again.

The past few days have been very interesting and hectic and I would like to share my findings with you.

"The state of Indiana, USA, has decided NOT to require the teaching of cursive writing this fall in the schools. " My friends Theresa and Bob and a whole lot of Graphologists thought of it as a bad idea, Some felt it could be used for research purpose (That idea I strongly reject) Is the keyboard completely replacing the pen?

Indiana school officials have announced that students will no longer be required to learn cursive writing, effective this fall.

In a memo to schools in April, state officials said schools can still teach cursive as independent school protocol, but students will be expected to be proficient in using the keyboard, The Tribune-Star reports.

District and school officials didn't find the announcement particularly surprising.

"The skill of handwriting is a dying art," [said East Allen County Schools Superintendent Karyle Green]. "Everything isn't handwritten anymore."

The Tribune-Star also reports that parents are worried about children knowing how to sign their names. The SAT and Advanced Placement exams also currently require handwritten essays.

This article truly is very depressing and talks about handwriting been more a curse than a boon. What a shame that the people are not aware of the true potential of Handwriting Analysis and using their Handwriting help them change their personality. We have many proofs as to how handwriting is useful and why cursive should be thought .

Research highlights the hand's unique relationship with the brain when it comes to composing thoughts and ideas. Virginia Berninger, a professor of educational psychology at the University of Washington, says handwriting differs from typing because it requires executing sequential strokes to form a letter, whereas keyboarding involves selecting a whole letter by touching a key.

She says pictures of the brain have illustrated that sequential finger movements activated massive regions involved in thinking, language and working memory—the system for temporarily storing and managing information.

And one recent study of hers demonstrated that in grades two, four and six, children wrote more words, faster, and expressed more ideas when writing essays by hand versus with a keyboard.

Writing increases neural activity
A recent Indiana University study had one group of children practice printing letters by hand while a second group just looked at examples of A's, B's, and C's. Then, both groups of kids entered a functional MRI (disguised as a "spaceship") that scanned their brains as the researchers showed them letters. The neural activity in the first group was far more advanced and "adult-like," researchers found. It showed that learning had taken place.

writing increases neural activity
“There's some pretty powerful evidence of changes in the brain that occur as the result of learning to overcome a motor challenge," says Rand Nelson of Peterson Directed Handwriting. The act of physically gripping a pen or pencil and practicing the swirls, curls and connections of cursive handwriting activates parts of the brain that lead increase language fluency.

This idea is echoed by Iris Hatfield, creator of the New American Cursive program. She also believes in the connection between handwriting and brain development. “Cursive improves neural connections in the brain, “she writes. She stresses that physiological movement of writing cursive letters “help build pathways in the brain while improving mental effectiveness.” This increased effectiveness may continue throughout a child's academic career.

R. Shadmehr and H. Holcomb of Johns Hopkins University published a study in Science Magazine showing that their subject's brains actually changed in reaction to physical instruction such as cursive handwriting lessons. The researchers provided PET scans as evidence of these changes in brain structure. Further, they also demonstrated that these changes resulted in an “almost immediate improvement in fluency,” which led to later development of neural pathways. As a result of practicing motor skills, the researchers found, knowledge becomes more stable.

Handwriting is one of the most difficult neuro muscular tasks. There are several basic brain processes involved in handwriting. Binocular teaming, or the proper focusing of the eyes, requires integration between the two hemispheres of the brain. Writing neatly on the paper is a fine motor activity which requires good hand eye coordination and good fine motor skill. Most handwriting problems are caused by a sensory integration disorder which inhibits coordination and integration between the many brain structures and systems involved in the writing process.

A fellow Handwriting Expert Theresa Oltega from Indiana has been following up this issue with the Indiana authorities and this is the link to her interview .Educators warn of negative effects of not teaching cursive

I feel that one must learn new things and technology is growing with leaps and bounds, but some things cannot be substituted and writing is far effective for the development of the brain to be considered a hassle. Handwriting affects our personality, our thought process and brings out our talents, or deep layered fears and study even shows that changing the handwriting has profound effect on the personality, also known as Grapho Therapy.
